Privacy

A memorial page holds some of the most personal material a family owns. Here is exactly what we hold, why, and how to get it back or get rid of it.

What we collect

• Your account: email address and password (stored hashed, never in the clear).
• What you put on a page: the person's name and dates, their story, photographs, videos, service details and guest book entries.
• Contributions: when someone adds a photograph or memory through a contribution link, we record the name and — if they give one — the email address they entered, so the family knows who it came from.
• Operational records: server logs and error reports, kept only as long as they are useful for keeping the service working.

What we deliberately do not keep

Location data in photographs. Phone cameras record the exact coordinates a picture was taken at. We strip that out — along with the rest of the embedded camera metadata — when the photograph is processed, before it is ever displayed. A family gallery should not quietly publish somebody's home address.

Card details. Payments go through Stripe, which handles card details directly. They never reach our servers.

Who can see a memorial

The page owner decides, and we enforce it on every request — including for the image files themselves, so a photograph on a private page cannot be reached by guessing its address.

• Unlisted (the default): anyone with the link; excluded from search engines and from our directory.
• Private: only the owner, co-owners and invited members.
• Public: anyone, including through search engines and our public directory.

Who else we share with

Only the services needed to run the product: our hosting provider, Stripe for payments, and our email provider for messages like "your tribute video is ready". We do not sell data, we do not run advertising, and we do not use your content to train machine-learning models.

Your rights

• Export. Any owner can download the whole memorial — media at original quality plus all written content — as a single archive, from the page's settings. No request needed, on any plan.
• Deletion. Deleting a memorial permanently removes the page, its media and its guest book. Deleting your account is available from your account settings.
• Correction and access. Write to us and we will put it right.

These apply to everyone, not only to people covered by the GDPR or CCPA. If you are covered by those laws, they are how we meet them.

Children

Accounts are for people aged 13 and over. A memorial page may of course be for a child who has died; this is about who holds the account.

How long we keep things

A memorial is kept until its owner deletes it. We do not delete pages for inactivity or for non-payment. Backups age out on a rolling 35-day cycle, so a deleted page disappears from those within 35 days.
